VT34128 - vintagetools custom rack for Neve 34128 channel-strips
The Neve 34128 channel strip is another analog classic that Vintagetools breathes new life into with a 19" rack. The 34128 channel strip comes from the Neve 54 console series and was one of the more affordable small Neve consoles of its time, featuring rudimentary elements that nonetheless provided the warm and detailed sound with classic British EQ that defines the Neve sound. The 34128 is not one of the legendary and fully discrete channels from the 1960s and 1970s, like the Neve 1073 in Class A or A/B design; however, it is absolutely worth being housed in a beautiful rack with an analog power supply and a great balancing amplifier for studio use. The microphone preamp offers 90 dB gain, which is extremely high and ideal for recording even low-level sources with any (ribbon) microphone. Both microphone and line inputs are symmetrically balanced with a Neve Belclare transformer. Additionally, you get 40 dB of pre-fade headroom, a beautifully sounding 3-band EQ with inductor-based mids, and of course, the legendary Neve sound. In our rack, we have, as usual, a custom-designed analog power supply and a newly developed (100% discrete) balancing amplifier. As a visual highlight, we have illuminated the Neve logo from behind. The rack not only sounds great but also looks fantastic in any studio! :-)
