This is a Vintagetools VTCR 19" rack with 4U. It is a meticulously crafted one-off piece. Anyone familiar with the WSW cassette series 811xxx knows how difficult it is to mount them attractively and stably outside the so-called Wiener Wanne. We specifically manufactured internal cages to allow the modules to be mounted flush with the front panel of the chassis.
Installed are eight modified WSW IA 811453 amplifiers. At WSW, the already excessive quality standards in broadcast technology were pushed to the extreme. In addition to the excellent input and output transformers and obligatory rotary switches, the entire internal signal path is implemented in fully balanced design. The WSW IA 811453 is actually an isolation amplifier, providing up to 30dB of gain. By chance, we were able to find eight original WSW input transformers of the same type but with a different product designation. These were installed in the eight modules. The gain is now adjustable via the 11-step rotary switch from +26dB to +52dB. In terms of level, that means three times as loud as a V72 tube amplifier, and thus perfectly sufficient for 90% of all microphone applications — whether condenser or dynamic.
- Very stable and professionally built 19"-4U rack, powder-coated in black.
- Internal VT2448 MK2 power supply with 24V and 48V for phantom power. Modified for higher current output.
- Illuminated, dimmable WSW logo behind the front panel.
- Modules modified for 52dB of gain.
- Original input transformers from the WSW microphone amplifier installed.
An absolute one-of-a-kind piece that will likely never be available again.
