Description from the STUDER Forum:

The A807 was the last analog tape machine produced by STUDER. It features:
•Microprocessor-controlled transport and audio electronics
•Three tape speeds
•Shuttle wheel for easy positioning
•Standard parallel and serial (RS232) interfaces
•Phase-compensated, digitally controlled audio electronics – without trim potentiometers
•Versions with built-in 48V phantom power (12V phantom power optional)
•A wide range of accessories, including:
•Remote transport controls
•Varispeed controllers
•Transport cases and studio mounting solutions
•Studio consoles and various setups

The transport mechanism is built on a robust aluminum die-cast chassis. The direct-drive, servo-controlled reel motors provide high torque, ensuring both fast winding speeds and quick acceleration and braking. The capstan drive uses a brushless precision DC motor for rapid startup and synchronization.

The official brochure rightfully describes the A807 as a “Universal Genius”, with the slogan:
“From Universal to Specialized Machine – Thanks to Practical Accessories.”

Production of the STUDER A807 was discontinued in 2001.
