RPQ2 - Lots of power on two channels
The two-channel AEA RPQ2 ribbon preamp with EQ brings out the natural warmth and rich sound of your ribbon microphones. With 81 dB JFET output power, it is a powerhouse that combines high gain with low noise in an unparalleled way. The RPQ500 and RPQ2's CurveShaperTM EQ is a powerful tool that lets you control your ribbon mics right at the beginning of the signal path. With the adjustable low and high frequency controls you can get close-talking problems under control and you can extend the high frequencies with an edge control. With the high-frequency filter boost you can give your signal more presence and "airiness", while the low-frequency control quickly and unobtrusively removes bass boosts.
AEA preamps
Passive ribbon microphones have a low output level. That's why they need a powerful preamp that amplifies the microphone signal accordingly while delivering high, pristine sound quality. Otherwise, the microphone signal may appear too soft or be noisy, for example when recording quiet acoustic guitars or strings. An effect that is even more noticeable when the microphone is farther away from the signal source or when there are long cable runs.
With AEA's purpose-built RPQ2, RPQ500, TRP500 and TRP2 preamps, you'll never again find a signal source too quiet to record with a ribbon mic. Because they offer you unsurpassed clean amplification and high impedance that gives your recordings the brilliance you expect. All AEA Ribbon preamps share the same topology and sound. The differences between the individual devices lie in the additional functions and formats.
"WE PUT THE SAME CARE IN OUR PREAMPS THAT WE PUT IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF OUR MICROPHONES: SOUND QUALITY COMES FIRST."
